Privacy Policy

Welcome to Velum ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your personal information when you use the Velum mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

When you use Velum, we collect and process the following categories of information:

A. Authentication & Account Information

• Account Identifiers: When you sign in using Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, we receive your basic profile information, including your email address, display name, and profile picture URL via Firebase Authentication.
• User ID: We generate a unique, anonymized user identifier (UID) to associate your data with your account.

B. App Usage & Mindfulness Progress Data

To synchronize your mindfulness journey across devices, we store the following data securely in Google Cloud Firestore:

• Focus timer session durations and completion timestamps.
• Current and longest focus streaks.
• Daily breath bubble reset counts and timestamps.
• Visual progression metrics (e.g., Earth formation status and meteorite destruction statistics).
• Custom preferences (such as daily reminder schedules and sound settings).

C. Subscription & Transaction Data

• In-App Purchases: When you purchase a subscription to Velum Glow, all payments and transactions are processed directly by Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). We never collect, see, or store your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or banking details.
• Subscription Management: We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements, validate store receipts, and synchronize your active subscription status (e.g., Spark vs. Glow) with your account.

D. Analytics & Performance Data

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymized telemetry data, such as app launch frequency, screen navigation paths, subscription conversion rates, and crash diagnostics. We utilize Firebase Analytics App Instance IDs to attribute anonymous store transaction events to general marketing and conversion metrics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following specific purposes:

• Providing Core App Functionality: Enabling focus timers, streak tracking, breath bubble exercises, and cross-device data synchronization.
• Managing Subscriptions: Verifying your active plan tier (Spark or Glow) and unlocking premium features such as unlimited daily bubble resets, full 25-minute Earth formation timers, and ambient sound libraries.
• Local Notifications: Scheduling reminders on your local device when explicitly enabled in your preferences.
• App Optimization: Analyzing usage patterns to fix bugs, enhance UI/UX aesthetics, and optimize cloud database read/write efficiency.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to advertisers or third parties. We only share data with trusted cloud processors essential to operating Velum:

4. Data Security & Storage

• Encryption: All communication between the Velum app and our cloud servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard SSL/TLS protocols.
• Storage Location: User progress data is stored on Google Cloud Firestore servers with strict Firebase Security Rules that ensure only authenticated users can read or write their own documents.

5. Your Rights & In-App Account Deletion

We believe you should have complete control over your data. In compliance with Apple App Store Review Guidelines (5.1.1v) and Google Play Data Safety requirements, you can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly inside the app at any time:

1. Open Velum and navigate to the Profile (You) screen.
2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
3. Confirm permanent deletion when prompted.

What happens upon deletion? Your user document in Cloud Firestore is immediately and permanently erased, local cache is cleared, RevenueCat subscriber session is unlinked, and Firebase Authentication account credentials are permanently removed from our servers.

Note: Deleting your Velum account does not automatically cancel an active auto-renewing subscription with Apple or Google. You must manage auto-renewals in your device's App Store or Google Play account settings.

6. Children's Privacy

Velum is designed for general audiences seeking mindfulness and productivity. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we discover that an individual under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will take immediate steps to delete such information.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and notify users through in-app notices where appropriate.
